Fundamentals for Supervisors

FFS

Fundamentals for Supervisors is a three-day program that provides essential skills required by those new to supervising the work of others, leading project teams or who have not received prior supervisory training. The goal of the FFS is to increase an individual’s performance as a supervisor and to provide practical tools to enhance staff performance.

The program addresses the unique challenges of a public service setting and is open to local, state and federal employees. Learning occurs in a safe and encouraging environment in which the trainers facilitate active involvement by participants. Participants can earn 1.8 CEUs for this institute.

Institute objectives

The FFS provides new supervisors with the opportunity to:

  • Assess current supervisory skills and develop action plans for improvement.
  • Practice enhanced listening and feedback skills.
  • Effectively manage the performance and development of staff.
  • Build and lead effective teams.
  • Develop strategies to retain effective performers from all generations.
