Supervisory Programs FAQs

As your FFS or ESI session approaches, PMG wants to share the answers to the most frequently asked questions about the PMG’s supervisory programs.

What are the Covid-19 safety protocols?

As we return to in-person institutes, we would like to reassure you that we will be taking all necessary precautions to create a safe and healthy experience for everyone. We are constantly monitoring and adjusting based on the guidance from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Virginia Department of Health (VDH), and Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). We are working closely with each of our vendors and conference sites to ensure we follow federal, state, and local guidelines, and we are also taking steps of our own to ensure your safety. For more information and specifics, please see our PMG Covid-19 Statement_Updated 7.11.22

Do I need to arrive the day before training begins?

We will begin promptly at 9 a.m. each day. You’ll need to weigh the distance and traffic from your destination to determine if you need to stay overnight at a local hotel to be on time. It’s your decision.

What is the location and daily schedule?

The program will be held at Westover at Maymont at 1000 Westover Road, Richmond, VA 23220 from 9:00 - 4:30 each day. A continental breakfast will be served from 8:30 to 9 a.m. and lunch will be provided on site.

Will the evenings be free?

No activities are planned for the evenings. Occasionally, a classmate invites the group to meet at a local spot for dinner, but this is optional.

What is the dress code?

Business casual is the most prominent attire during the day — something you would wear to the office on a “dress-down Friday.” Please wear layers to ensure your comfort in the training room. It’s always a challenge to achieve a perfect room temperature.

What is the protocol for cell phones, etc.?

Speakers and participants appreciate your attending to business during regularly scheduled breaks. Cell phones must be turned off or to an inaudible ring. Tell your office that you will have a break in the morning and in the afternoon. Also, during lunch, participants often have time to make calls to the office or review voicemail.

What do I need to do before the session?

Review the Cost, Policies, and Checklists page for any to-dos before the session starts.

Reminder: All attendees must submit a one-page biography to be included in the Participant’s Notebook. If you have not done so, e-mail your biography to pmg@vcu.edu or submit your biography as soon as possible. Additionally, please e-mail a photo or headshot of yourself.
